In today’s world, security is no longer confined to the borders of a single country. When discussing and studying security, these issues must be viewed in a global context. But is it possible to gain this global perspective while staying in Latvia, without studying abroad? Absolutely – it just requires taking advantage of the various opportunities offered through the study process.
Guest lectures by professionals from European and even non-European universities are nothing new for students. However, a new initiative has begun within SECUREU project partnership: inter-university hybrid lectures.
The second such inter-university lecture took place on November 20, with more than 140 students from Latvia, Spain, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, and Lithuania participating. Turiba University and Avans University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) students mainly attended the event in person, while students from other universities joined online.
During the lecture students had the opportunity to listen to 3 fascinating presentations: the challenges faced by the international logistics company DHL in the field of security; Nordic Exercise, a training in North of Norway’s involving rescue services and security students; and the use of artificial intelligence solutions in new security technologies. At the end of the session, students had the chance to ask questions and engage in discussions with the lecturers.
Such inter-university lectures are planned to become a regular feature of security studies of the partnership.
