In spring 2023 two international conferences took place in Riga – Turiba University conference “Change – the basis of a sustainable society” (19.04.2023.) and Baltic Security conference 2023 (27.042.023.). SECUREU project was presented in both events.
Security and security risk management is currently one of the most pressing topics both in the field of higher education and in the region as a whole. This year, two large-scale events took place in Latvia, both events were dedicated to security topic. SECUREU project partners also did not miss the opportunity and took part in both of the events.
The XXIV international scientific conference “Changes – the basis of a sustainable society” of the Turiba University was organized on April 19 and was hosted by the Turiba University. During the conference various security experts from Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Denmark discussed security challenges of the region and future perspectives. 2 SECUREU project representatives also took part at the conference – Turība University lecturer Uģis Začs and Kazimieras Simonavičius University professor Raimundas Kalesnykas. Both experts presented their researches carried out within the SECUREU project.

On April 27, the largest security conference in the Baltics was held at the ATTA centre in Riga, which gathered around 500 security specialists from the Baltic countries and beyond. As part of the conference, there was also an exhibition in which Turiba participated with its stand. The ERASMUS+ SECUREU project was also presented at the stand.
Both of these events show how important and topical the security issues are in Latvia and the Baltics as a whole. Therefore, the SECUREU project is even more important and significant, within the framework of which experts from 6 countries are developing training materials that will help to prepare knowledgeable and skilled security specialists.
