The Security Laboratory opened at the Turiba University was created to give the students of the study program “Organizational Security” the opportunity to practically acquire knowledge and skills in the field of security, as well as to promote cooperation with representatives of the security industry.
Experts of SECUREU project, Uģis Začs and Kārlis Apalups, were involved in planning and development of the Laboratory.
The laboratory is equipped with video surveillance, fire protection, access control and building management systems, as well as various physical security solutions. In the laboratory, students can perform various safety tests and experiments, as well as develop new ideas and projects.
Laboratories like this one are important for training the practical skills of security students, giving them the opportunity to learn various technologies already during their studies and providing an understanding of technical solutions in the security industry. The development of practical skills and understanding of technologies in the industry is one of the cornerstones for young security specialists to be able to successfully integrate into the labour market. This was emphasized by experts in the round table discussions held by partners in 6 countries within the framework of the SECUREU project.
